🔥 The most absurd “clean-up” saga in DeFi history is finally laid bare today!
Do you remember the rsETH crash on April 18 that scared the entire crypto market to death?
With only one RPC poisoning attack, the hacker exploited a LayerZero DVN vulnerability and somehow minted 116,500 fake rsETH out of thin air, directly smashing into Aave to borrow $292 million, triggering a huge wave of bad debt across the whole industry!
From Aave TVL plunging by $8 billion, to rsETH depegging on 20+ chains, to Arbitrum using “god mode” to forcibly freeze funds—within 48 hours, all of DeFi fell from a “decentralized myth” to a “centralized farce,” and everyone started blasting LayerZero: you broken bridge—now you’ve pulled down everyone’s underwear in the industry!
Today, the one responsible finally owns up and backs down!
LayerZero Labs officially announced it will directly inject more than 10,000 ETH (about $230 million) to fill the gap in Aave-led DeFi United’s rescue plan!
Of that, 5,000 ETH is donated directly, and the other 5,000 ETH is deposited into Aave to replenish liquidity. They even plan to force-push GHO’s market, putting on the classic “I’m not taking responsibility—let the whole crypto industry go down with me” dead-pig-doesn’t-care-if-it-boils attitude!
Isn’t that ironic?
Back then, LayerZero kept shouting “decentralization and secure cross-chain,” but one configuration mistake was enough to send the whole chain to its doom;
Now, to clean up their own mess, they have to rely on “industry crowdfunding” + “out-of-pocket funding” to patch Aave’s holes—without even caring about their face!
What’s even more terrifying is that this farce isn’t over yet:
• Cross-chain DeFi TVL has evaporated by more than $13 billion, and countless retail investors’ money is frozen on-chain and can’t be withdrawn;
• The security myth of cross-chain bridges has been completely shattered— even SlowMist directly said that the “DeFi Lego structure has been pierced through”;
• And now everyone is still arguing: does the centralized “god mode” rescue mean extending life, or does it completely nail decentralization shut in the coffin?
Is these 10,000 ETH LayerZero’s redemption, or the epitaph for DeFi’s collapse?
Tell me in the comments—do you think this rescue can save the cross-chain security that has already rotted beyond repair? #WCTC交易王PK #加密市场小幅下跌 $BTC
