Blockstream launches Jade Core to simplify Bitcoin self-custody
CryptoWorld News: Blockstream announces the launch of Jade Core, a simplified open-source hardware wallet designed to make Bitcoin self-custody more accessible to a broader user base. Jade Core builds upon the existing Jade series, maintaining its open-source security model while targeting a wider audience. The device addresses many of the complex setup processes and technical requirements faced by experienced users in current solutions through guided onboarding and tight integration with Blockstream’s mobile and desktop applications. Jade Core supports Bluetooth pairing, enabling users to manage transactions across platforms without relying on custodial services. Private keys are stored on the device, and all transaction signing occurs offline, reducing exposure to online threats while maintaining user control over assets. The device also includes several core security features related to Blockstream’s existing framework, including open-source hardware and firmware, allowing users and developers to audit the system.
