Meta Signs Deal for Up to 1 GW of Space-Based Solar Power for Data Centers

Meta signed an agreement with Overview Energy for up to 1 gigawatt of space-based solar power for Earth-based data centers by the end of the decade. Meta said the capacity is tied to technology milestones and will be used on Earth rather than in orbital data centers. Meta also signed a separate deal with Noon Energy for more than 100 hours of storage, starting with a 25-megawatt, 2.5-gigawatt-hour pilot project in 2028.
