CryptoWorld News reports that Cognition has released Devin for terminal, transforming the AI programming agent Devin, which was originally only available in the cloud, into a local version that users can run directly on their terminals. In local mode, Devin can fully access code repositories, development tools, and local environments, and supports switching between multiple cutting-edge models, including Claude Opus 4.7, GPT-5.5, and Cognition's self-developed SWE-1.6. When local tasks exceed the laptop's computing power, users can transfer the session to the cloud via CLI, and Devin will continue working after closing the computer. The terminal UI is built with a custom rendering library written in Rust. The team stated that Devin has also successfully run on a 1978 VT-100 device.
