On April 28th, the first news: South Korea and the United States launched a joint landing exercise, with New Zealand participating on land for the first time to strengthen the so-called US-ROK Asia-Pacific partnership framework. According to foreign media reports, South Korea, the United States, and New Zealand conducted a joint landing exercise in the waters and coast of Pohang, South Korea. The total troop strength involved in this exercise was about 3,200 personnel, deploying more than twenty ships and various types of warships, including South Korea's Maro Island amphibious assault ship, KF-16 fighters, Apache attack helicopters, and US P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft. The exercise simultaneously included live-fire drills such as vertical landing, maritime blockade, and joint firepower strikes.



The second news: the United States is requesting negotiations, and Iran claims to be considering it. On April 27th, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian stated that he responded to former President Trump’s claim of victory by asking, "Then why propose negotiations?" Abdollahian pointed out that Iran is confronting the world's largest superpower, and the US has failed to achieve any of its goals, which is why the US is requesting negotiations. Iran is currently considering this option.

The third news: Hezbollah in Lebanon refuses to negotiate directly with Israel, proposing five new ceasefire demands. On the 27th local time, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah issued a statement saying that he refuses to conduct direct negotiations with Israel. Nasrallah stated that the way to resolve current issues is to first achieve the following five points: Israel stops land, sea, and air invasions; Israel withdraws from occupied territories; Israel releases prisoners; Lebanese residents return to all villages and towns; Lebanon rebuilds its homeland. Meanwhile, Nasrallah called on Lebanese authorities to stop direct negotiations with Israel and adopt indirect negotiations to avoid influence from Israel and external pressures.

The fourth news: explosions reported in eastern Afghanistan. According to the head of the Information and Culture Department of Kunar Province, Afghanistan, Pakistan launched a missile attack on the province that day, resulting in three deaths and 45 injuries. Pakistan has not responded to this incident.

The fifth news: Zelensky proposes to extend the national wartime state for another 90 days. According to the official website of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada on the 27th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted a draft decree to the Verkhovna Rada to extend the current wartime state by 90 days. The draft proposes to extend Ukraine’s wartime status from May 4th to August 2nd.

The sixth news: Russian Defense Minister Shoigu officially visits North Korea. The two countries have reached a core consensus and finalized a strategic military cooperation agreement for 2027 to 2031. Both sides confirmed they will steadily deepen comprehensive military cooperation, including arms collaboration, operational technology exchanges, joint exercises, border and security coordination, continuously strengthening strategic security mutual trust, and improving long-term normalized military cooperation mechanisms.
