I saw the news that a South Korean tax agency unintentionally revealed important information in a news statement. I was absolutely shocked. It turned out that they posted a photo of a Ledger wallet with a handwritten recovery mnemonic that was clearly legible—nothing was blurred at all, not even a little.

Because this mnemonic information was exposed, assets worth approximately $4.8 million are suspected to have been leaked to hackers. According to data on the blockchain, more than 4 million PRTG tokens were transferred to an unidentifiable address in no time.

What’s most uncomfortable is that the government agency apparently doesn’t even seem to know basic cybersecurity. Publicly disclosing the mnemonic like this is truly a serious loss of national assets.
