A review shows that this round of domestically developed open-source large model iterations covers multiple core areas such as cost reduction, industrial-grade applications, breakthroughs in specialized capabilities, and edge-side adaptation, achieving multi-dimensional technological upgrades. The world’s largest AI open-source community, Hugging Face, released the Spring 2026 Global Open-Source AI Ecosystem Report, which shows that over the past year, 41% of the large model downloads on the platform came from models developed in China. China has become one of the most active and fastest-growing regions for global open-source large models. Data indicates that the total global downloads of domestically developed open-source large models have exceeded 10 billion times. China has become the country with the largest number of artificial intelligence patents worldwide, with patent applications accounting for 60% of the global total.
