Recently, I've been watching the disputes over royalties in the secondary market again and again. The more I watch, the more I feel: the biggest fear for the creator economy isn't “earning a little less,” but that rules are inconsistent—today like this, tomorrow like that. When everyone feels uncertain, they’ll just give up altogether. Platforms say they respect the market, creators say that’s just free riding. In essence, everyone is fighting over the same certainty.
I tried out a few new wallets/on-chain social platforms as a guinea pig and found that many experiences are actually like “backup”—keeping an extra copy makes me feel more secure: backing up income sources, backing up distribution channels, and trying not to rely on just one entry point for fan relationships.
By the way, I also thought about how the recent criticism of the staking/sharing security model as “copycat” is somewhat similar: seeing the compounded returns look attractive, but layer after layer stacking up—who will bear the risk, who will handle the friction costs? In the end, it still comes down to trust and predictability. Anyway, I’m now more concerned with “whether it can be sustained” rather than “whether it can make a quick profit.”
