French "Charles de Gaulle" aircraft carrier docks at Greece's Souda Bay Naval Base
The French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” arrived at the Greek Souda Bay Naval Base on April 3rd local time, and is expected to stay until April 7th. This is the first port call since the “Charles de Gaulle” was deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean earlier this month. French President Macron announced in a televised speech on March 3rd regarding the Middle East situation that the “Charles de Gaulle” aircraft carrier had been dispatched to the Mediterranean, accompanied by its air force and escort ships. On the 5th, Macron stated that France would not participate in the current military conflicts in the Middle East nor join related military actions. Macron emphasized that France’s actions in the Middle East are mainly to protect its citizens and allies’ safety, rather than to engage in military confrontation. (CCTV News)
