On April 26, in response to a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, a reporter asked Trump, ‘Why does this keep happening to you?’ Trump replied, ‘I’ve studied assassination attempts, and those who are the most influential, who do the most, and have the greatest impact are the ones who become targets. They don’t go after those who do nothing. Look at those people, whether the attempts were unsuccessful or successful, they are all very influential. Look at those names; they are all big figures. I don’t really want to say this, but for me, it is an honor.’
