What Time Is the Asian Session - A Complete Guide to Global Trading Time Frames
To effectively participate in the crypto market, you need to know what time the Asian session is and when the optimal trading periods are. Understanding the global trading schedule will help you seize the best opportunities and avoid sudden volatility.
The Three Main Trading Sessions Worldwide
The crypto market operates 24/7 but is divided into three main trading periods based on geographic regions. Each session has its own characteristics depending on the level of participation from investors in those areas.
Asian Trading Session occurs approximately from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (GMT+7). This is when exchanges in Asia, from Tokyo, Singapore to Hong Kong, are most active. Notable market movements often happen during this time due to active participation from Asian investors.
European Trading Session runs roughly from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM (GMT+7). When exchanges in London, Frankfurt, and other major European cities open, trading volume increases significantly. This is one of the most important sessions because of the involvement of large financial institutions.
American Trading Session takes place from about 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM (GMT+7), covering the US and Canadian markets. This session usually sees the highest volatility of the day, with huge trading volumes from investment funds, high-frequency trading firms, and individual investors in North America.
When Does Trading Volume Peak?
In reality, trading volume is not always consistent. It increases notably when two or more sessions overlap. During these times, you'll find better trading opportunities and higher liquidity.
Around 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (GMT+7), both the European and American sessions are active simultaneously. This is the golden period for trading, as buying and selling pressures from the two largest regions impact prices. Volatility can be very high, creating opportunities for cautious traders and those seeking volatility.
Similarly, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (GMT+7), the Asian and European sessions overlap. The market also experiences high trading volume during this period, though it may not be as intense as the Europe-America overlap.
Understanding these timeframes will help you choose the optimal moments to execute your trades, especially if you are a professional trader or new to the crypto market.
