The American startup Starcloud claims to plan to launch a Bitcoin mining platform in orbit by the end of the year, by deploying ASIC machines on a spacecraft.
According to its CEO Philip Johnston, these orbital data centers could harness continuous solar energy in space, potentially cheaper and more abundant than on Earth, with the long-term idea of relocating part of the global mining operations, which currently consume about 20 gigawatts of electricity, to space infrastructure. $BTC
