Major crypto holder "麻吉" suffered a loss of $1 million on long positions
Famous trader Juan Lichen, known by the nickname "Maji Brother," has once again become the center of market attention. This time, his long positions are showing significant losses — the holder's portfolio has dropped from a profit of one and a half million dollars to a negative one million dollars. Monitoring data from HyperInsight, distributed by BlockBeats on January 19, revealed a critical change in the situation during the latest market downturn.
How a major holder lost their profits: the structure of a multi-layered portfolio
This crypto holder's positions demonstrate a high level of risk due to the use of significant leverage. The most aggressive part of the portfolio is 10,400 ETH on 25x leverage with a liquidation price of $3,102.12 and an unrealized loss of $260,000. At current prices, ETH is trading at around $2.03K, indicating substantial pressure on this part of the portfolio.
The second-largest loss position is 333,000 HYPE on 10x leverage. The liquidation price was set at $20.39, and the current loss amounts to $480,000 — the largest among all positions. Today, HYPE is trading significantly higher at $32.80, but this does not save the portfolio from cumulative losses.
The third significant loss is 5,200 ZEC with 10x leverage. The unrealized loss is $236,200 with a liquidation price of $125.70. ZEC is currently reaching $229.93, demonstrating market volatility.
The list concludes with 11 BTC on the most aggressive 40x leverage, with $29,300 in losses. At the current price of $68.04K, Bitcoin remains one of the few assets maintaining relative stability amid market turbulence.
High risks of leverage: why such holders are at risk
The crypto holder's portfolio "麻吉" is a vivid example of extreme capital allocation using leverage. The combination of 10-40x leverage on volatile assets creates a scenario where even minor price movements can lead to partial or full liquidation of positions. The story of this trader — from profits exceeding $1.3 million to losses of $1 million — demonstrates how quickly the situation can change in the crypto market.
These examples serve as a reminder to crypto investors about the importance of risk management and proper position sizing when using leverage. Holders working with leverage over 5-10x expose themselves and their capital to extreme risks that can lead to complete loss of funds within hours.
