Revolut Applies for Banking License in Peru
Source: Coinspaidmedia Original Title: Revolut Applies for Banking License in Peru Original Link: FinTech company Revolut applied for a full banking license in Peru, viewing the remittances and cross-border payments market as a key area for its operations in the country.
The team behind Revolut, a company providing digital banking and payments services, submitted an application for a full banking license in Peru. According to Bloomberg, the initiative is part of the company's strategic plans to expand its presence in Latin America.
If approved by the local regulator, Revolut will be able to operate in Peru as a regulated bank, further expanding its footprint in the region. The company already provides services in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil. Julien Labrot, CEO of Revolut Peru, said that entering the Peruvian market is intended to broaden access to financial services for the local population and strengthen competition. According to him, the company plans to compete primarily with traditional banks rather than local FinTech startups.
Around 1 million people in Peru regularly receive funds from abroad. According to the World Bank, the volume of private remittances to the country reached $4.93 billion in 2024.
The expansion into Peru comes amid the company's overall growth and its efforts to enter the UAE market. By the end of 2024, Revolut increased its net profit by 130% to £790 million ($1.06 billion), driven by growth in its customer base and a rebound in crypto activity. In October 2025, Revolut launched a service for converting U.S. dollars into the stablecoins USDC and USDT, and the volume of stablecoin payments on the platform in 2025 grew by 156% YoY to $10.5 billion.
At the end of 2025, Revolut's FinTech services were integrated with Trust Wallet. A similar feature was launched for European Ledger users back in August 2024.
