Treasure DAO experienced a life-and-death strategic overhaul from early 2025 to early 2026. The project's former dream of being the "Web3 Nintendo"—a multi-game distribution platform combined with its own blockchain—was completely abandoned under financial pressure and shifted to a new track: AI agents. The positioning of MAGIC tokens also changed from being a utility token within the gaming ecosystem to becoming the core fuel of the AI agent ecosystem. This was not just a directional shift but a battle for survival.
Let's look at what specifically happened. On February 11, 2025, Treasure officially announced the launch of a platform called Mage, dedicated to incubating and launching AI agents. This platform is built on the elizaOS framework and is deeply integrated with Treasure's existing infrastructure. Importantly, this announcement explicitly defined $MAGIC as the "magic fuel" for AI agents—used to invoke and sustain the operation of the agents.
This marked a turning point. Originally, MAGIC was mainly used for interactions and incentives within the gaming ecosystem. Now, it was set to expand into the entire AI agent economy. From one perspective, this was a forced innovation—driven by financial pressure. But from another angle, catching the AI agent wave could also be an opportunity for a turnaround. The project is betting everything on this move, and the future depends on whether the Mage platform can truly open up new opportunities and whether $MAGIC can establish itself as a stable economic fuel in this new ecosystem.
