US Secretary of State Pompeo's first foreign visit after taking office, planning to discuss with the Panamanian government the 'recovery' of control of the canal

This is also Rubio's first foreign visit since taking office as U.S. Secretary of State. He will use Panama as a starting point to visit five Latin American countries including Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic. According to the current schedule, Rubio will meet with Panamanian President Mulino and visit the Panama Canal.
