On December 19th, Analyst Catarina stated that Powell said that some people did take a very preliminary step at this meeting and began incorporating highly conditional estimates of policy into their forecasts. This is a shift compared to the past few meetings. Powell has repeatedly emphasized that the Fed will not react until policy is almost or completely in place. Trump hasn't even taken office yet, but some Fed officials have already started to factor in potential policies.
