Abstract generation in progress

Layer1 Block project Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom) announced that the Sonic Mainnet has generated its first Block, marking the successful completion of the 'Genesis' phase, and is expected to be officially launched soon.

Sonic Labs recently launched an upgraded Testnet 'Blaze', which as an EVM-compatible Testnet, has made a huge breakthrough in performance. According to the official statement released at the end of November, the Testnet achieved an average block generation time of 1.17 seconds in the first batch of over 220,000 Blocks, and the final transaction confirmation time was shortened to just 0.85 seconds.

Sonic Labs has a very ambitious vision, aiming to achieve 'sub-second transaction confirmation' and set a new standard: processing 10,000 transactions per second, compressing confirmation time to within 1 second, and truly challenging the limits of high-performance blockchains.

The predecessor of this project can be traced back to the Opera Block chain of Fantom - since its launch at the end of 2019, the platform has established a solid foundation. Sonic Labs has currently raised a total of $10 million in funding, with support from well-known investors including Stani Kulechov, Robert Leshner, Michael Egorov, and Tarun Chitra, while heavyweight figure in the Blockchain field, Andre Cronje, serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

The team previously indicated that the Mainnet will be launched from the end of November to the beginning of December, and the current progress shows that this goal is being pushed forward as scheduled.

On the other hand, Sonic Labs also stated that it has completed the Snapshot for the S Token Airdrop distribution. After the Mainnet launch, Sonic's native Token will be denoted as $S and can be seamlessly exchanged with Fantom's existing FTM Token at a 1:1 ratio.

In addition, Sonic Network will launch a Ethereum cross-chain bridge called Sonic gateway, which not only allows the platform to integrate the huge user base and liquidity of Ethereum, but also retains its own high performance and low cost features. At the same time, the network has designed a shared sequencer that can simultaneously generate and protect Blocks of multiple rollups, greatly enhancing its future scalability.
