Palau's President Calls for Condemnation of China's Missile Tests at Pacific Islands Forum

According to China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on September 3, Palau's president called on member states of the 55th Pacific Islands Forum to condemn China's missile test activities in the region. In response, China accused Palau of repeatedly manipulating the issue and attempting to coerce other forum members into taking a position against China. "Their scheme will not succeed," Guo said, reiterating that China adheres to a peaceful development path and a defensive national defense policy, and has no intention of military expansion.
