U.S. Private Sector Employment Increases 44,000 in July, Sharply Below June's 95,000

ADP-0.75%
According to ADP data released today, U.S. private sector employment increased by only 44,000 in July, down sharply from 95,000 in June, marking a significant slowdown in hiring. The ISM services PMI came in at 54.1 for July, slightly above June but below expectations, reflecting weakness in employment amid persistent cost pressures on businesses. Meanwhile, wages for job switchers climbed 7%, suggesting companies are competing more actively to retain talent rather than expanding hiring. Analysts attribute the slowdown partly to the end of World Cup-related economic boost seen in the previous month.
