Bitcoin (BTC) is seeing a short-term rebound, trading at around $64,580 as of August 6. Strategy preferred stock STRC rebounded strongly, breaking above $94, while Michael Saylor declared the goal of becoming the company with the largest market cap in the world. Block raised its 2026 outlook due to strong quarterly results and said artificial intelligence had affected nearly all of its code.
On August 5, Strategy officially posted a presentation video on X featuring founder Michael Saylor himself, explicitly declaring the company’s ultimate ambition: “To become the company with the largest market cap in the world.” To achieve this goal, Strategy proposed a core “trinity” strategy: holding the most capital (BTC), issuing the strongest credit product (STRC), and building the best stock (MSTR).
According to the earnings report released Wednesday, adjusted operating income for the second quarter also exceeded expectations at $855 million. Adjusted diluted earnings per share came to $1.02, above Wall Street’s consensus estimate of $0.87 per share. The results prompted Block to raise its full-year gross profit forecast from $12.33 billion to $12.51 billion and its adjusted operating income forecast from $3.34 billion to $3.47 billion.

Strong corporate profits in the United States drove the Dow Jones Industrial Average to another record high on August 5, marking five consecutive trading days of gains. However, SpaceX and AMD earnings failed to meet investors’ high expectations for AI growth, sending both stocks sharply lower. Along with Alphabet’s decline, this dragged the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 263.18 points, or 0.5%, to close at 54,349.06; the S&P 500 fell 0.2% to close at 7,723.52; the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.8% to close at 26,363.44. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.8%.

Phyrex Ni(@Phyrex_Ni): “It is still another day of continued back-and-forth between the United States and Iran. This time, the United States has become much smarter by not negotiating directly with Iran, but instead going through Oman. This indirect approach appears to be effective so far. Although Iran understands this perfectly well, both sides are giving each other room to save face. They are verbally hurling abuse at each other, but in reality they are still sitting at the table parsing every word. WTI has now fallen below $75, and my personal first-stage target has been reached.”
“The returns from shorting oil this time have been somewhat higher than in previous attempts, mainly because funding rates have indeed fallen significantly. I have held this position for nearly a month, and the funding rate has been only around 30% of what it used to be, saving a great deal on funding costs. If rates had been as high as before, I might have felt very conflicted about holding it. Lower funding rates make it possible to hold for longer. Of course, this also meant missing some swing-trading opportunities.”
“Yesterday I was telling some friends that when trading oil, there is no need to pay too much attention to swings. After all, shorting oil is mainly about the information flow. At any moment, a single statement from Trump or a missile launched by Iran could change the current market’s expectations. It is enough to get the broad direction roughly right; too much swing trading could get you shaken out. I basically do not trade swings myself. I have only one principle: short on rallies.”
“Besides oil, there are also Hynix and Bitcoin. Hynix has not opened a trade for two consecutive days, and tomorrow may be a good opportunity. As for BTC, the dual-currency strategy is still working fairly well. The position bought at $63,000 has remained profitable, and the current limit order is at $66,000, which it probably will not reach. Earning interest is quite nice.”
