According to Fortune, recent research by Apollo Global Management shows that AI is not eliminating jobs but cutting wages. The study found that wage growth for workers in high AI-exposure occupations slowed by 6.7 percentage points since 2023, compared to workers in low-exposure roles, while employment levels remained stable. Approximately 5.8 million U.S. workers in high AI-exposure occupations are experiencing wage pressure, resulting in conservative estimates of $28 billion in annual labor income losses. The impact is concentrated among lower-income workers, with the lowest income quartile facing wage cuts of 10.7%, while high-income workers show no statistically significant impact.
