USD-KRW Falls to 1,422.50 Won on August 6, Down 2.00 Won Amid Dollar Weakness

According to Yonhap Infomax, the USD-KRW exchange rate declined 2.00 won to 1,422.50 won on August 6 at 6 a.m. KST, reflecting global dollar weakness and expectations of Hormuz Strait reopening. The currency fell 7.10 won compared to 1,429.60 won 24 hours prior. Comments from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and continued foreign stock net purchases supported the decline. Iran agreed with Oman on establishing a joint shipping corridor in the Hormuz Strait, though Iran stated the new route does not represent full strait reopening. The U.S. dollar index stood at 99.690, while the euro-dollar rate reached 1.15526, marking its highest level since mid-June.
