Meta Debuts Muse Code AI Coding Agent to Compete With Anthropic and OpenAI

META0.98%

According to CNBC, Meta launched Muse Code on August 5, its first AI coding agent, led by AI chief Alexandr Wang. The terminal-based tool enables developers to handle complete software engineering tasks including planning, code writing, and validation—directly competing with Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's Codex assistants.

Muse Code operates alongside Meta's latest AI model, Muse Spark 1.2. Pricing follows a pay-as-you-go model at $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens, matching Muse Spark 1.1 rates. Wang highlighted a contributor tier priced over 10 times lower, available to developers who opt-in to help improve the model.
