According to The Information, Meta's Vice President of Applied AI Engineering Maher Saba required internal engineers last month to use the company's self-developed AI coding assistant MetaCode at least once weekly. Code modifications submitted through the tool are reviewed and used to improve Meta's AI models. The initiative aims to accumulate real-world software development data at scale, enhancing the model's performance in code generation, debugging, and software engineering tasks as Meta seeks to narrow the gap with OpenAI and Anthropic in AI programming capabilities.
