Iran and Oman Agree on Joint Shipping Corridor in Strait of Hormuz

According to Iran's IRNA news agency on August 5, Iran and Oman have agreed to establish a joint shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the two countries concluded negotiations after two months of talks on creating safe maritime passages for merchant vessels. Both sides reached consensus on the geographic coordinates of the proposed corridor and have reviewed technical, legal, security, and environmental aspects. A joint statement detailing key considerations and agreed points is currently under review and finalization.
