Disney Announces TikTok Global Partnership and $1.2B A+E Sale on Restructuring Push

On Wednesday's earnings call, Disney announced a major global partnership with TikTok that grants fans and creators access to audio and video clips from hundreds of films and TV shows to create short-form content. In addition, the company confirmed plans to sell its 50% equity stake in A+E Global Media—which houses networks including A&E, The History Channel, and Lifetime—to joint venture partner Hearst for approximately $1.2 billion in cash. CEO Josh D'Amaro emphasized that Disney+ will serve as the digital centerpiece for the company's intellectual property strategy across multiple consumer touchpoints.
