According to Disney's earnings call on Wednesday, CEO Josh D'Amaro announced the company is exploring a free, ad-supported streaming product to reach price-sensitive customers and drive Disney+ subscriber growth. D'Amaro noted Disney has more available ad inventory compared to competitors, which could help accelerate ad revenue growth.
Disney also announced it has sold out all ad spots for the upcoming Super Bowl, airing on ABC and ESPN in February, with 30-second commercials priced at $9 million each. CFO Hugh Johnston told investors the advertising market for live sports remains healthy despite increased competition in streaming.
