Google DeepMind Leadership Shifts: Hassabis to Chair, Alphabet Stock Falls 5%

Alphabet announced major executive changes today at its Google DeepMind division. Demis Hassabis, current leader of the AI lab, will transition to chairman, while Chief AI Architect Koray Kavukcuoglu will assume most of Hassabis's operational responsibilities. Jeff Dean, a long-serving Google executive instrumental in the company's AI strategy, is departing to launch a startup.

Alphabet stock (GOOGL) fell more than 5% following the announcement, while the Nasdaq declined over 0.6%.
