Apple Seeks Emergency Forensic Oversight of OpenAI; Musk Says Can't Be Trusted

According to Apple's court filing on August 4, the tech giant asked a federal judge for a preliminary injunction to place OpenAI under forensic supervision, allowing outside investigators to review its internal systems. Apple alleges that former employees leaked unreleased hardware secrets to OpenAI, causing ongoing harm.

The lawsuit also names io Products, a hardware startup founded by former Apple design chief Jony Ive that OpenAI acquired for $6.5 billion earlier this year. Elon Musk commented on the case via X, stating "Can't trust OpenAI," as he has long argued the company abandoned its nonprofit mission. OpenAI has denied the allegations and disputes Apple's claims as overstated.
