According to Seoul Economic Daily, in the week of July 29–August 5, South Korean cooling appliance stocks outperformed broader market indices amid record-breaking heat waves. Winix jumped 29.2% and Pasecotech rose 23.1%, compared with KOSPI gains of 16.5% and KOSDAQ gains of 20.7% over the same period. Investor interest has expanded to air-conditioner filter manufacturers, with Clean and Science climbing 17.6%.
Power equipment stocks also surged, driven by dual catalysts. LS Electric advanced 29.4%, HD Hyundai Electric 31.7%, and Il Jin Electric 25.6% in the same week. Analysts attributed the gains to growing demand from artificial intelligence data centers and the grid modernization cycle, now amplified by elevated electricity consumption from extreme heat. Shin Han Investment Securities noted that increased data center demand combined with rising cooling demand could trigger electricity shortages and spike power prices.
