Foreign Leveraged ETF Inflows Surge to $3.15B in One Week Amid Single-Stock Curbs

According to Korea Securities Depository data analyzed by Digital Times, foreign leveraged exchange-traded product net inflows reached $3.15 billion during the week of July 27-August 4, surging 17.3 times from the prior week and averaging 12.4 times daily growth. The surge came after South Korean regulators increased minimum deposit requirements for single-stock leveraged products to 30 million won. SOXL, which tracks the U.S. semiconductor index with 3x leverage, accounted for 80.6% of total inflows at $2.54 billion. Index and sector-type products, which remain outside the new deposit restrictions, represented 94.3% of all leveraged ETF purchases during the period.
