Foreign Investors Buy 996.5B Won as KOSPI Surges 4.16% to 6,623 on August 5

According to E-Daily, as of 1:40 p.m. KST on August 5, KOSPI recovered to 6,623.27, up 264.32 points (4.16%), driven by foreign investor purchases of 996.5 billion won. The buying pressure triggered a buy-side circuit breaker at 9:24 a.m., marking the 22nd such halt this year.

Semiconductor stocks led gains, with SK Hynix rising 7.23% and Samsung Electro-Mechanics climbing 13.76%, tracking overnight strength in U.S. semiconductor shares. Large-cap stocks surged 4.71%, while advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a significant margin.
