DSRV and SBI Ripple Asia have launched a joint research initiative to develop a next-generation blockchain payment infrastructure between South Korea and Japan, one of Asia's most vibrant financial corridors with over $80 billion in bilateral trade annually.
The research focuses on modernizing remittances and cross-border payments based on XRP Ledger (XRPL), including real-time settlement integration, reduced transfer fees, increased transparency, and faster transaction speeds compared to traditional banking systems. Both parties are also evaluating XRPL-based liquidity solutions for organizational payment flows.
Simultaneously, the project examines the legal and technical frameworks in each country, designing compliant models and operational processes compatible with existing financial infrastructure, aiming for a hybrid model of blockchain and traditional finance.
This initiative aligns with XRPL's expansion strategy in Asia, as Ripple and SBI Holdings prepare to launch the RLUSD stablecoin in Japan. If successful, the project could set a precedent for other large-scale international payment corridors.
