TRM Labs: Illegal cryptocurrency trading volume reached $158 billion last year, mainly driven by the Russian Ruble stablecoin A7A5.

PANews January 28 News, according to Decrypt, a recent report released by TRM Labs shows that the amount of illegal cryptocurrency activities in 2025 will reach a record $158 billion, a 145% increase year-over-year. The rise is mainly driven by A7A5, a ruble stablecoin linked to Russia. TRM stated that the rise of A7A5 indicates that sanctioned countries are moving away from dollar-based payment systems and turning to specialized crypto tools.
