Every time you can’t hold on and want to sell, read these and remind yourself to see it through:

1. Dollar-cost average and hold. I’ve never seen anyone hold for more than 4 years and still lose money.
2. If you can’t hold on, you can’t get rich.
3. The stock market is a tool specifically designed to transfer money from the impatient to the patient.
4. Time is the friend of the excellent investor and the enemy of the mediocre investor.
5. Paper hands are responsible for spotting opportunities; diamond hands are responsible for turning opportunities into wealth.
6. Real big money isn’t made by buying and selling, but by waiting.
7. When others are shouting, “That’s enough for this run,” it’s only just beginning to break out.
8. When people in the group start mocking you for still holding, it often means a breakout isn’t far away.
9. The world is full of foolish gamblers whose returns are worse than those of patient investors.
10. As soon as you sell, the market makers have the tokens they need to push the next leg higher.
11. Taking a small profit feels great, but it hurts even more when you later see someone else make 20x.
12. People who stay in the game longest didn’t buy early—they sold late.
13. Understanding a business is difficult, and holding what you don’t understand is even more difficult. Most people can’t hold because they don’t understand. If you truly understand it, you shouldn’t be unable to hold.
14. Let the profits run for a while. They know better than you how far they can go.
15. The stronger your urge to sell, the more it suggests that the market’s emotional cycle hasn’t run its course.
16. Successful investing requires time, discipline, and patience.
17. Wall Street makes money by constantly trading; you make money by not constantly trading.
18. Let others use your missed upside to add to their positions.
19. Buy and hold, then wait patiently.
20. Find a good investment opportunity, then hold it indefinitely.

If you can’t hold on, you can’t get rich!
