Bitcoin has finally broken out of the long consolidation that kept the market under pressure.
As of August 20, BTC is trading around the $72K–$73K zone, while ETH has pushed above $2.3K. The strength is not limited to one asset either: Ethereum, XRP, HYPE and several major altcoins have also posted sharp gains.
But after such a fast move, the most important question is no longer “Why is crypto pumping?”

$BTC Bitcoin operates on a four-year halving cycle and has now entered the second half of the bear market, with the next halving scheduled for 2028. After the halving, the supply will be cut in half and the value will double, inevitably driving the price up. Looking at historical cycles, the difference between the bear market bottom and the post-halving high is several-fold. If Bitcoin falls below $50k, the next halving cycle could also bring several-fold returns: even a conservative 3x would bring it to $150k, while 4x would bring it to $200k.
