If the situation you encounter is:

Scenario 1: Forgot the fund password/cloud backup password but have backup mnemonic phrases/private key

You can restore the wallet by re-importing mnemonic phrases/private keys after resetting the wallet.

*Before resetting, please make sure to confirm that you have backed up the mnemonic phrases/private key for the wallet.

Scenario 2: Forgot the lock password, unable to access wallet interface

You can unlock it by changing the fund password in Gate and entering the new password in the wallet lock interface.

Scenario 3: No backup mnemonic phrases/private key and forgotten fund password/cloud backup password

Due to the characteristics of Web3 technology, if you do not have backup mnemonic phrases and also forget the fund password/cloud backup password, you will not be able to recover your wallet.

1.I forgot the Gate Web3 Wallet fund password/cloud backup password. Can I change the wallet fund password/cloud backup password by changing the fund password in Gate?

The wallet fund password and cloud backup password are used for local data encryption, and cannot be changed in real time based on your modification of the exchange’s fund password.

If you want to change the fund password/cloud backup password, please make sure to first confirm that you have backed up the mnemonic phrases/private key, and then restore the wallet by resetting the wallet - setting a new Gate fund password - importing mnemonic words in the wallet interface. The wallet’s fund password and cloud backup will be consistent with the newly set Gate fund password.

2.How to Modify the Wallet Lock Password?

If you want to change the wallet lock password, you can do so by changing the Gate fund password.

Click on https://www.gate.com/myaccount/security-setting, and find “Password Management” to modify the fund password.

The wallet mnemonic phrases/private key is crucial information for using the wallet. Please make sure to backup and keep it properly. Once lost, forgotten, or not backed up, your assets cannot be retrieved. Anyone with your wallet mnemonic phrases or private key can transfer your wallet assets.

We strongly recommend that you backup your mnemonic phrases and private key when creating a wallet, and save them properly. After creating the wallet, performing a Gate cloud backup can quickly restore the wallet when you change devices, while reducing the risk of losing your wallet.
