To ensure fairness, transparency, and security in trading, Gate Prediction Market has established a comprehensive set of trading and settlement rules. Before participating in any market prediction, please make sure to read and fully understand the following rule explanations.
I. Basic Trading Principles
- Asset Requirement: Currently, only USDT is supported for trading. Please ensure you have sufficient USDT in your spot account or related account.
- Contract Nature: Users purchase “Shares” representing specific outcomes. Each correctly predicted share is worth $1.00 at settlement, while incorrect predictions are worth $0.00.
- Minimum Trading Limit: To ensure order effectiveness, each order must be for at least 5 Shares.
- Two-way Trading: Before the event is settled, you can buy or sell your shares at any time. There’s no need to hold until the event concludes—you can profit from price fluctuations in the market.
II. Order Types Explained
Gate offers two main order modes:
1. Market Order
- Definition: Executes immediately at the best available market price.
- Use Case: For those seeking 100% instant execution.
- Note: May be subject to slippage risk during periods of high volatility.
2. Limit Order
- Definition: Set the maximum buy price or minimum sell price you’re willing to accept.
- Use Case: Allows precise control over trading costs.
- Note: Limit orders are not guaranteed to execute.
III. Market Lifecycle
- Active: Users are free to buy and sell shares.
- Closed: The event time has arrived, trading stops. Funds are locked, users cannot trade, and must wait for result confirmation.
- Resolved: The result is officially confirmed by the oracle; winners can claim settlement funds based on their shares (each share = $1.00).
IV. Outcome Determination & Settlement Mechanism (UMA Oracle)
Gate Prediction Market uses the UMA (Optimistic Oracle) mechanism for decentralized result verification, ensuring objective judgment:
- Resolution Source: Each market has a predefined source for results (such as official announcements, statistical data, etc.).
- Proposal & Observation: When the event ends, a proposer submits the result and stakes a deposit. An observation period follows, during which anyone can challenge incorrect results.
- Dispute Resolution: If a challenge occurs, the UMA system arbitrates via distributed voting. The party with the correct judgment wins. This mechanism ensures fair consensus even for complex events.
V. Special Case Handling Rules
- Event Cancellation or Invalidity (Voided Markets): If an event is permanently canceled or cannot be determined due to force majeure (e.g., a match is permanently stopped with no outcome), the market will be deemed “void.” All participants’ initial funds will be refunded proportionally.
- Time Postponement: If an event is postponed but will still take place, the market usually remains active until completion. See each market’s detailed description for specific rules.
- Draw Determination: If a draw occurs and the market does not offer a draw option, the result will be determined according to the specific rules outlined for that market.
VI. Risk Warning
- Irreversible Results: Once the market is officially settled, the result is final and cannot be changed.
- Self-Responsibility: Users are responsible for their own order decisions. Executed orders cannot be withdrawn.
Summary: Gate Prediction Market is committed to providing a transparent and fair prediction environment. Please trade rationally after fully understanding the above rules.
