1. 【 2-Step Login】

2-step login provides another layer of protection for your account. To use this feature, you first need to bind your mobile phone number, Google Authenticator or email address to your account.
After enabling this feature, you will be required to enter an SMS verification code, Google verification (GA/TOTP) code or email verification code for every login you perform.
Set up via:
Web Version:
Click on the avatar in the top right corner → Security Settings → Login 2-Step Verification
→ Click the button to Turn on or Change.

App Version:
Click on the avatar in the top left corner, then click the right arrow next to the avatar → Security → Two-Factor Authenticator→ Enable.

2. 【SMS Verification】

Enabling SMS verification enhances the security of your account. Once activated, this feature confirms your identity by sending you a text message during login and withdrawal actions.
Web Version:
Click on the avatar in the top right corner → Security Settings → SMS Verification → Enable → Follow the on-screen instructions to fill in the required information → Confirm.

App Version:
Click on the avatar in the top left corner, then click the right arrow next to the avatar→ Security → Phone Number → Bind.

For the sake of account security, after you bind or unbind the mobile phone, P2P trading and withdrawals will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours.

3. 【Google Authenticator】

Google Authenticator provides an additional layer of security for login, withdrawals, and changes to security settings. It’s an ideal alternative if you have trouble receiving SMS verification codes.
For account security, after binding or unbinding Google Authenticator, P2P trading and withdrawals will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours.

1.How to bind and unbind Google Authenticator?

2.Bind/unbind Google Authenticator via:
Web Version:
Click on the avatar in the top right corner → Security Settings → Google Authenticator → Enable or Unbind → Follow the on-screen instructions to choose or proceed with the operation.

App Version:
Click on the profile icon in the top left corner, then click the right arrow next to the profile icon → Security → Google Authenticator→ Bind or Disable → Follow the on-screen instructions to choose or proceed with the operation.

4. 【Email verification】

Should you register via the website, the email address you enter will be automatically bound to your account. For accounts created using a phone number through the app, we advise promptly binding an email address. This ensures you receive security alerts promptly and enables you to carry out security verifications for logins and configure security settings.
For account security, after binding or changing email addresses, P2P trading and withdrawals will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours.

How to proceed?

1.For Web: Login - Avatar - Security Settings - Email Verification - Follow the prompts to bind.
2.For APP: Log in - Click avatar on upper left corner - Security Center - Email Verification - Follow the page prompts to act.

Notes:
1.Once email is bound, unbinding is not supported. But you can change the bound email box by clicking the Change button .

2.If your bound email address is lost or deactivated and you need to update your bound email, please submit a ticket and contact customer support for assistance

5. 【Change password】

【Change login password】

If you still remember the login password, you can reset the password via :Log in- click on the Avatar - Security settings - click “Change” to change the password.
If you forget your login password, you can reset it by clicking on “Forgot Password” on the login page and then follow the instructions to create a new one.

Note: The login password will be set during registration. After it is reset, P2P and withdrawals will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours.

【Change fund password】
If you still remember the fund password, the modification of the fund password can be performed from both the web and the APP end.

For Web: After logging into your account, go to “Security Settings”, find “Fund Password” in “Password Management, and then click “Change” to reset it.

For APP: After logging in to the account, go to [Security], find [Fund Password] and then click [Change Fund Password] to reset the fund password.

If you forgot your fund password:

Web Version:
Click on the avatar in the top right corner → Security Settings → Password Management → Click on “Change” under Fund Password → Click “Forgot Password?” to reset your fund password.

App Version:
Click on the avatar in the top left corner, then click the right arrow next to the avatar→ Security → Fund Password → Reset Fund Password to reset your fund password.

【Fund password: input frequency and modification】
Fund password provides additional protection to your assets’ security. You can set the fund password input frequency to better suit your needs (by default, the fund password will be inquired once an hour, yet it will always be input again if there are IP address changes).
For account security, after setting or resetting the fund password, P2P and withdrawals will be temporarily suspended for 24 hours.

Web Version:
Click on the avatar in the top right corner → Security Settings → Password Management → Fund Password → Click the “^” button → Select the desired frequency.

App Version:
Click on the avatar in the top left corner, then click the right arrow next to the avatar → Security → Fund Password → Input Frequency → Select the desired frequency.

【Anti-phishing code】

Anti-phishing code can help identify scam websites and email: An official gate.io website will contain this code. If you receive any email claiming to be sent from us but not containing this code, you can recognize it as a counterfeit

1、Login - Click on avatar - Security Settings -Advanced- Anti-Phishing Code - Turn on - Change- Act by following the prompts.

【Withdrawal settings】
From here, you can set verification options for asset withdrawal. There are three options: SMS verification, email verification, and fund password verification. You can turn off one of these, but you need to keep at least two of them turned on for security.

For the web: Security Settings —Advanced—Withdrawal Settings- click “Change” to reset.


For APP: After logging into the account, click Avatar on the upper left, find “Security “, and then click “Withdrawal Settings” to modify it.
