Riot, a publicly traded Bitcoin miner, leased its entire Corsicana site in Texas to an unnamed AI lab for 15 years, with an initial total contract value of about $28 billion. Its total revenue last quarter was just $181 million, making this contract more than 150 times that amount.
In its earnings report released the same day, its core mining business looked less appealing: it mined 16% more coins in the third quarter than a year ago, but mining revenue fell 28%. The company’s net profit dropped from $104.5 million in the same period last year to $4.03 million
