Since Bitcoin was the first public blockchain, it faces scalability challenges. In addition to improving transaction speed and scalability, Lightning Network is designed as a second-layer network solution. Taproot's 2021 upgrade will further improve transaction efficiency and introduce smart contract functionality, laying the groundwork for future developments like the explosion of Ordinals NFTs.
