Unlike the stock tokenization and RWA mapping models widely discussed in the market today, Gate's newly introduced stock services place greater emphasis on real market access capabilities and a compliant trading framework. By partnering with compliant broker Alpaca holding U.S. Broker-Dealer licenses and clearing qualifications, Gate Stocks directly connects to major U.S. securities markets to provide users with actual stock and ETF trading services, rather than on-chain mapped assets or tokenized derivatives. Notably, Gate's partner broker is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). Subject to meeting relevant conditions, they provide corresponding protection for clients' securities assets, further strengthening account asset security and the investor protection system.
In terms of trading asset coverage, while most tokenized stock platforms typically support only a few hundred assets, Gate currently supports over 10,000 stocks and ETF assets. This covers major U.S. stock exchanges and liquidity networks, including NYSE (New York Stock Exchange), Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, and BATS, offering users a richer and more comprehensive selection for global securities asset allocation. Currently, Gate Stocks supports intraday trading, and will gradually support 24/7 trading in the future, providing global users with a more flexible, efficient, and round-the-clock trading experience.
Relying on a unified crypto asset account system, Gate further bridges digital asset trading with stock investment scenarios. Users can directly use USDT to participate in stock and ETF trading, achieving a more convenient connection between crypto assets and the U.S. stock market. From a user experience perspective, Gate has seamlessly integrated the stock trading function into its existing App ecosystem. Currently, Android users can experience stock trading after updating the Gate App to the latest version, while iOS users can access the service after updating to version 8.21.5. After completing platform KYC and meeting the accessibility requirements in their jurisdiction, users can access the Stocks section under TradFi in the Gate App to view market data and participate in stock trading by transferring stablecoins through either the trading page or asset page. Users can participate in global stock market investing more conveniently without having to complete additional complex procedures, enabling efficient allocation between crypto assets and traditional financial markets.
In terms of product structure, Gate Stocks operates independently from traditional CFD (Contract for Difference) products. Users can buy, hold, and sell stock assets directly through their Gate accounts, with funds managed separately. Distinct from the funding rates in perpetual futures and holding costs such as swap fees and overnight fees in CFD products, Gate spot stock trading involves no funding rates or overnight holding fees, making it more suitable for users seeking long-term allocation to U.S. stock assets.
The current product only supports intraday market buy and sell orders, while features such as margin trading and short selling will be gradually rolled out in the future. At the same time, Gate will also support one-click stock asset transfers between brokerage accounts in the future, further improving asset transfer efficiency and cross-platform management experience. In addition, users can view positions, P&L, transaction history, and corporate actions (such as cash dividends, stock splits, reverse splits, etc.) in a unified account, with relevant returns automatically credited to the user's account according to platform rules.
