To continue improving the product experience, the fast, fee-free redemption feature for GUSD (a staking product) is scheduled to officially launch on July 17, 2026, 06:00 (UTC). Following the launch, users redeeming GUSD can enjoy real-time processing and 1:1 fee-free redemption back to the original minting currency. This allows you to earn a 3.8% GUSD minting yield while maintaining maximum liquidity and flexible fund rotation.
About GUSD
GUSD is a principal-protected flexible wealth management product. Its yield is sourced from Gate ecosystem revenues, Treasury RWA (Real World Assets), and high-quality, stablecoin-backed yield-generating assets. The product supports trading and collateralization, distributing daily interest to provide users with stable returns.
- Minting method: You can mint GUSD at a 1:1 ratio using USDT, USDC, or USD1.
- Yield Distribution : The current GUSD minting APR is 3.8%. Yield calculation begins the day after subscription and is distributed daily before 12:00 (UTC) on the following day in the form of GUSD. Yield is calculated based on eligible GUSD balances in your Spot/Unified and Funding Accounts. You can view your accumulated yield details in your Spot/Unified Account.
- Flexible Redemption : Withdraw anytime with instant settlement. For GUSD minted via USDT, USDC, or USD1, redemptions made within the dynamic "fee-free quota" of the respective currency incur zero fees. Redeemed assets are automatically returned to your Spot or Unified account.
How the Fee-Free Redemption Quota Works
- Upon launch, GUSD minted using USDT, USDC, or USD1 will enjoy a 1:1 fee-free redemption quota for that respective currency.
- This quota is dynamically calculated based on your historical minting and redemption records: Fee-Free Quota (Per Currency) = Cumulative Minted Amount (That Currency) - Cumulative Redeemed Amount (That Currency). If the calculation result is less than 0, the quota is set to 0.
- Redemptions within this quota incur zero fees. For any amount exceeding the quota, standard redemption fees will apply only to the excess portion.
Scenario 1: Original Currency Redemption
- You mint GUSD using 1,000 USDT and have never redeemed before. Your fee-free quota is 1,000 USDT.
- If you subsequently redeem 400 USDT, your remaining fee-free quota becomes 600 USDT.
- When redeeming USDT:
- Redemption amount ≤ 600 USDT: Fee is 0.
- Redemption amount > 600 USDT: Standard fees apply only to the amount exceeding 600 USDT.
Scenario 2: Spot Market Purchase
- You have never minted GUSD using USDT, but instead bought 500 GUSD on the Spot market.
- If you attempt to redeem to USDT, you will have 0 USDT fee-free quota, and the redemption will incur standard fees.
Scenario 3: Cross-Currency Redemption
- You have never minted GUSD using USDT, but minted GUSD using 500 USDC.
- If you attempt to redeem to USDT, you will have 0 USDT fee-free quota, and the redemption will incur standard fees.
Important Notes
- The redemption page on the app may temporarily still show a transaction fee. However, the system will automatically calculate your fee-free quota at checkout, and no fees will be charged for eligible amounts. Please refer to the final redemption confirmation screen.
- Daily fast redemption is subject to a total quota limit. Once the quota is fully used, it will be reset on the following day. Standard redemption and fast redemption share the same fee-free redemption quota, allowing you to choose the redemption method that best suits your needs.
