#70%OfAltcoinsFallBelow200DMA

Market Observation: 70% of Altcoins Now Below 200DMA

Recent data from CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost indicates a notable shift in the altcoin market structure. According to the report, approximately 70% of altcoins are currently trading below their 200-day moving average (200DMA). This is a sharp increase from early October, when the figure was around 10%.

The 200DMA is a widely used technical indicator to gauge longer-term market trends. A broad breakdown below this level often indicates a shift in market momentum toward a bearish phase or a period of prolonged consolidation.

Alongside the technical breakdown, the overall altcoin market capitalization has declined by approximately $200 billion from its recent peak. This drop has effectively erased nearly two-thirds of the gains accumulated during the August-to-September period.

Looking at the current market structure, we must consider both sides of the data:

· Further Weakness: A large portion of the market losing its 200DMA support can lead to sustained selling pressure, as long-term trend followers may reduce exposure.
· Extreme Zone: Historically, when a vast majority of assets fall below a key moving average, it can also indicate that the market is entering an oversold territory. Such conditions sometimes precede a relief rally or a reversal point.

Technical indicators are lagging, meaning they confirm trends rather than predict them. For a legitimate reversal to begin, the market would need to see a stabilization in price action, followed by a reclaim of these moving averages.

Given the current landscape, are you waiting for a confirmed reversal above the 200DMA, or scaling into positions at these lower levels?
