The Wealth Gap Between Generations in the US Is Growing

A closer look at the Federal Reserve's Survey of Consumer Finances reveals a growing difference in wealth between older and younger American households.

Since 1983, households aged 75 and above have increased their relative share of wealth, while those under 35 have seen their position decline.

Rising property values, long-term investments, debt, and housing affordability all play a role in this widening gap.

The difference highlights an important economic challenge: building wealth has become increasingly difficult for younger generations.

Economic growth matters, but so does the ability of different generations to benefit from it.
