While everyone is discussing how much further Nvidia and AMD could fall, I want to remind everyone that investment opportunities don't always appear in the hottest places.
The Nasdaq plunged 5.5% on Thursday, the semiconductor index sank about 12%, and AI stocks faced a fierce sell-off. This shows that the market's risk appetite is declining rapidly.
If the AI sector continues to correct, I'll be watching three areas closely.
First, consumer staples. When the economy and stock market are volatile, demand for food, household goods, and other essentials tends to be relatively stable, giving some high-quality companies a chance to provide defensive exposure.
Second, utilities. Electricity demand is being driven over the long term by data centers and AI development, but in the short term, interest rates, capital expenditures, and regulatory risks still warrant attention.
Third, short-term U.S. Treasuries. They can offer some defensive protection during market volatility, but yields will still move with interest rate expectations.
Of course, I haven't given up on chip stocks. Nvidia, AMD, and other high-quality semiconductor companies are still worth keeping on the watchlist; we just need to wait for valuations and market sentiment to become more reasonable.
My investment principle is: don't get too greedy when prices rise, and don't panic too much when they plunge.
AI can continue to change the world, but our portfolios should also learn to diversify risk.
The next market rally may not belong to the loudest stocks, but to companies that can truly make money, pay dividends, and weather the winter!#每周来晒 and #美股史诗级抛售 $AMD
