I Remember When: The Lost Fundamentals of Crypto Investing

I used to analyze projects thoroughly before investing in cryptocurrency exchanges. I would investigate who owned the cryptocurrency by checking profiles on that famous professional networking site evaluate the community and see what their projects promised.

Then I would try to find the project websites. If we gained access I would read the whitepaper. This analysis process sometimes took a week. Back then there was not this much volatility and manipulation. We had time. Every cryptocurrency had a project and a real equivalent.

When $IOTA was mentioned we knew there were strong companies like IBM behind it. When $XLM was mentioned we knew it was a project developed for rapid money transfers in collaboration with Western Union.

Also in the past cryptocurrencies only had BTC and ETH trading pairs. So we had to buy Bitcoin with USD first. We could not buy any altcoin directly with usd. Why was this important? It was important for tracking and chart reading. We knew that if the bitcoin price was rising this money would later be distributed to altcoins and altcoins would rise. So in general why investors like me with ten to twelve years of experience never invested in bitcoin can be understood from here. I saw bitcoin solely as a tool to buy altcoins. It was like a bridge between the dollar and altcoins.

Furthermore national stock exchanges oil barrel prices economic and political rhetoric never affected cryptocurrency exchanges. Because there was a truly decentralized structure.

Now I look at the futures gainers table. I analyze the cryptocurrencies at the top of the table their prices rise to incredible levels even though there is no statement or project update to justify a hundred to two hundred percent increase. Why? There is no explanation!

Years ago the former SEC chairman said this during a court process regarding cryptocurrencies. If you leave cryptocurrencies open to manipulation they cease to be an investment tool. The situation we are in right now is almost entirely like this. Maybe I was angry at the SEC Chairman when he said that back then but now I can see how right he was.

I used to see cryptocurrency as a tool to build a future. I thought I was investing for myself and my son. I gave examples in the live broadcast yesterday too. I bought $ATOM at 14usd and sold it at 17. I bought $LINK at 42usd and sold it at 50. Now let us look at the prices of these cryptocurrencies. You ask me if the bull season will come you ask many times every day. Look at the prices I wrote above then you tell me.

Do you think the bull season will come? Do the rich people in the world want more rich people to join them? Think and decide.

Very nicely and correctly said. I agree btc was a bridge between usd and altcoins. It is true that it was known who was behind which coin and that everything was connected and made sense. Unfortunately, cryptocurrencies have become subject to manipulation. We can no longer look at them as a good investment for the future.

The crypto market once valued research, strong fundamentals, and real utility. Today, hype and manipulation are more prominent. Understanding fundamentals and being patient are now more important than ever for real investors. 💯
