Gold has been one of the areas I’ve been watching closely lately, especially gold ETFs.
Why pay attention to gold? Because the global economic environment is complex, and factors such as geopolitical risks, inflation expectations, and central bank gold purchases can all affect demand for gold. When market uncertainty rises, gold often returns to investors’ radar.
I’m bullish on gold ETFs because they make it relatively easy for investors to gain exposure to gold price movements, without having to buy gold bars or worry that their home safe isn’t big enough.
But gold also has clear drawbacks. Unlike companies whose shares trade on the stock market, it doesn’t generate profits through business operations or pay you regular dividends. Gold prices are influenced to a large extent by real interest rates, the dollar’s trajectory, and market sentiment.
If the dollar strengthens and real interest rates rise, gold may also come under pressure. More importantly, it’s hard to tell how much of the good news the market has already priced in.
My approach is to treat gold ETFs as part of my asset allocation, rather than putting all my wealth into gold.
Gold may glitter, but your investment account won’t necessarily be flashing red every day.
Do you think gold still has room to rise, or is it already getting a little tired?$AMD
