U.S. stock investors may be more concerned about the weather lately than office workers, because the market could change at any moment! 😂
On November 10, U.S. October CPI is due to be released, and this data could become an important catalyst for short-term sentiment in U.S. stocks.
Why is everyone paying so much attention?
Because inflation determines the market’s expectations for the Fed’s future interest rate policy, and rate changes are especially important for tech and growth stocks.
If CPI comes in below expectations, the market may increase its bets on future rate cuts, Treasury yields may fall, financing cost pressures may ease, and the Nasdaq and tech growth stocks could find support.
This is especially true for highly valued tech stocks, as changes in rate expectations often affect the valuations investors are willing to assign.
But if CPI runs hot again, things may not look so good.
Rising yields and cooling rate-cut expectations could put valuation pressure on tech stocks, and the Nasdaq could also see short-term volatility.
However, CPI is not the only factor determining whether U.S. stocks rise or fall; corporate earnings, market valuations, and economic growth are also important.
What I’m watching is whether core CPI cools and whether Treasury yields fall in tandem.
After all, what the market likes most isn’t good news, but good news that exceeds expectations!
Do you think the Nasdaq will rebound this time, or remain under pressure? $AMD
